- Driving through Orford you will pass the Kings Head on your LH side then drive around the corner past the Church. You will see a long brick wall and hedge on your RH side and a black 5 bar gate. This is your entrance to park the car. Open the gate fully and turn into the gravel drive but not in front of the Great House. You will see on your RH side an entrance into the Orchard and a sign showing where you can back the car onto the grass - 4 hard gravel pads indicate the space. Please exit through the same gate and shut behind you . Walk along the road to the 2nd black 5 bar gate - enter through this gate and you will immediately see the ‘ Little House ‘ gate on your LH side. The path to the house leads you around the perimeter wall of the garden to a metal gate and is well lit at night. Parking instructions and a hand-drawn map of where to park has been provided by owner and available in documents.
Are you longing for a luxury, one-of-a-kind retreat in the centre of Orford? A break from the fast-paced life of the city? Then we prescribe a stay at The Little House. Newly designed and constructed in 2019, now is your chance to experience a taste of the tiny house movement. Drawing upon successful elements of the iconic Scandinavian style, The Little House has been lovingly furnished and influenced by the owners' worldly travels to create a captivating and welcoming space, full of warmth and imagination.
Natural texture comes from the driftwood flooring and ethnic rugs, the walls are painted matchboard and panelling which wrap around the interior of The Little House. A central fireplace helps to unite the open plan living area - which features a kitchenette, sitting and dining area. Clever storage and design features help to make this space work in all occasions; sliding bi-fold doors open out onto the surrounding decking and really help to open the space out further. In the sleeping area, the raised cabin bed can even enjoy views of the TV through a little set of doors - which can be opened and closed to your choosing. A clever use of mood lighting allows for subtle glows along the glulam beam, tiny plinth and angled wall lights highlight the floor and walls.
To the rear of the property you will find a newly fitted shower room leading off from the bedroom. Grey metro tiles and a double shower head will really help you feel invigorated after long walks along the riverbank. In fact, you're well positioned for exploring during a stay at The Little House. Guests have access to a private gate directly onto Broad Street, meaning you can walk to Market Hill or down to the Quay very easily by road. A real treat are Pump St Bakery croissants in the morning, to be enjoyed with a good, strong coffee...

Orford is an attractive village, dominated by the remains of a 12th Century castle keep - you may like to climb to the top to enjoy the panoramic views over the town and marshes. It is also famous for Orford Ness National Nature Reserve and Havergate Island, both a delight for ornithologists and nature lovers. Sailing and boat trips are available on the River Ore, with country walks in Rendlesham Forest. It is only nine miles from the beach at Aldeburgh, with the historic towns of Framlingham and Woodbridge and the world-famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall also within easy reach.
Lovely cabin and a great spot to enjoy the area. Log burner kept the cold wet January weather at bay!
