If you’re bursting with energy, swim lengths in the heated outdoor swimming pool, explore the surrounding trails on bicycles provided or let off some steam on the tennis court. Great Hockham is in the centre of the Brecklands, an area of environmental importance, and within 500m of the house is Thetford Forest Park - 50,000 acres of woodland offering bike and walking trails, Segway hire and a high wire experience. The village has a pub serving traditional pub food and offers a selection of local ales. The local shops can be found at Watton, a market town 6 miles away. Banham Zoo with over 2,000 animals from around the world is just a 20 minute drive. The Georgian Norfolk town of Wymondham is a 15 minute drive and offers a variety of boutiques and gift shops. The City of Norwich beckons visitors with its 900-year old cathedral, its Norman castle and one of the oldest and largest outdoor markets in the country. The Georgian town of Bury St Edmunds is close by and Newmarket, with its two racecourses and busy racing calendar, is a 30 minute drive. The famous beaches of Brancaster and Holkham are about 30 miles away and absolutely worth the drive.
