Overview: Tucked away down a quiet street in historic Framlingham is this charming two-bedroom self-catering cottage. The owner has lovingly restored Keepsake Cottage to create a cosy and well-furnished holiday home suitable for a couple looking for a romantic retreat or small family from which to explore all the area has to offer.
On the ground floor there is an open plan living area complete with Smart TV, Blu-ray and DVD player, perfect for nights in during to winter months. There is also a dining area for intimate dinner parties. There is a fully equipped kitchen to cater for all your self-catering needs. And there is a family bathroom with a bath and over bath shower, and handy heated towel rail. Outside there is a small courtyard garden accessed through the kitchen, with a small bistro set, perfect for sitting out with a glass of something special during the warmer months.
On the first floor there is a pretty master bedroom with a comfortable double bed and a handy second bedroom with a full size single bed.
Ideal for: A romantic couples retreat, or for two friends looking for two separate bedrooms. The cottage would also be perfect for a small family with the second smaller bedroom ideal for a child.
Sleeps: 3 in 1 double and 1 single.
Exploring: An ideal holiday destination for lovers of British history and walking, the small market town of Framlingham is perhaps best known for its castle. The town, which has all the essential amenities for a self-catering holiday is dominated by this spectacular 12th Century curtain-walled castle where Mary Tudor was proclaimed Queen. The Mere next to which the castle sits is a haven for wildlife and the surrounding area is perfect for a stroll or relaxed picnic.
Framlingham is also becoming known locally for its exciting and quirky annual festival – ‘Sausagefest’. Pig farming is one of Suffolk’s biggest industries and each year local butchers battle it out to become the Sausagefest champion for the tastiest bangers in Suffolk.
Further afield, there are some wonderful days out to be had. The coastal town of Aldeburgh is just 15 miles from Framlingham and is an essential day trip during your stay. If it’s history you crave Sutton Hoo and Orford Ness are two places not to miss.
Self catering: Most supermarkets will deliver to Keepsake Cottage, however there is a large Co-Op store in the centre of the town and only a short walk from the cottage. For locally sourced produce there are plenty of shops to choose from in the town, including a butcher, bakery and a deli. There is also a weekly market open every Tuesday and Saturday.
