The Suffolk countryside is vast and varied and there are still a few gems that remain relatively untouched and unknown.

Beccles Bell TowerLuckily, the Suffolk Cottage Holidays team know the Suffolk countryside like the back of their hand. This month our Brand Marketing Manager, Sally Owen, is going to her Suffolk Hidden Gem with you.

Although not entirely out-of-sight this gem is a stunning view, rather than a place, and it is accessible via a well-known landmark in the market town of Beccles. However, few people know that they can get to the very top of it to experience extraordinary views of the surrounding countryside.

Sally says "My gem isn’t really hidden - it’s the most focal point of Beccles and can be seen for miles around! However, very few people know that you can actually go to the very top of the Bell Tower on selected days during the year."

"It’s a tight climb – flat shoes and patience definitely required! But, the views from the top overlooking the town, the River Waveney and the marshes are just spectacular. Not to be missed!”

What's your hidden gem? We will be sharing a Suffolk Hidden Gem with you each month - why not sure share yours too?

Simply share a picture of your hidden gem on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, tag us in your post and use the hashtag #suffolkhiddengem.
